JBUK DAYs 6 & 7 - Lazy in Strasbourg and under water to Karlsruhe

1. deutsch
2. english (scroll down)

Alles Gute Euch beiden!!!

Day 6 was absolutely free of cycling. I enjoyed a lazy day in Strasbourg. Take care, there are big alsatians watching you everywhere ;). I strolled around in the alleys and went out for a tarte flambée and a glass of Riesling. What a life.

Day 7 had begun with a shock. Packed my Longrider and oh no: air off on the fronttyre. That caused some extra warm-up by pumping with the smallest bike pump ever (needs 1000 strokes for half a pint of air). But it woth worth the workout. The sun is shining, there is no wind and the air stays in the tyre. this is it, I can start. Let's bike to Karlsruhe. The first miles were leading through urban neighbourhood, before it went on along the Rhine with it's dykes, small quarry ponds and nature reserves. But it didn't went on all the time because of flooded parts of my cycle way (caused of the heavy rainshowers in the few last days). Now I can say that the underwater scenery is beautiful as well. Just joking. No, from time to time I cycled through the flooded part, when it was not too deep or if that wasn't possible, there was always a way around it or somebody told me a way around. Once, there was a group of cyclists heading in my direction and giving signs to stop and told me how to get around it. They all had the same shirts with the slogan "take your time". A very easy group of people and really funny. They were heading to the next camping to celebrate the weekend, with breaks whereever they sold beer. When they heard about my plans to cycle to England they condoled consitently and supposed that maybe I will not reach England today. Damn right ;). A few feet further on I had to stopp again. I arrived in the middle of a shooting of bride and bridegroom. No, they didn't shoot eachother of course. There was a Photographer with them and he asked me to stop and to leave my longrider as prop. As an extra I placed myself as a mute in the picture too ;). Alle the best for you two!!!
